UPDATE 29TH JUNE
Today we have received the Visit England “We’re Good to Go” accreditation following an inspection of our Covid-19 risk assessment and park opening procedures.
Any further updates to our procedures will be posted on the Guest Charter on our website.
UPDATE 27TH JUNE
If you have a booking with an arrival date in July and August, you should have received an email outlining our opening protocols and information regarding your holiday this year at Little Trevothan. Please check your Spam folder as some email addresses don’t seem to trust my documents!
UPDATE 23RD JUNE
UPDATE 22ND JUNE
We hope you are all well, and we are thinking of you constantly as we wait for news (hopefully this week) on the re-opening of holiday parks from the Government.
We have been working hard to ensure our park is Covid-19 Confident for the safety of all our guests, our family team and the local community here in Coverack and the Lizard Peninsula. This work has been a priority for us, as it is so important we all stay well here, as we wouldn’t want to close due to our family falling unwell. We have done everything possible to make Little Trevothan a safe place to visit, and we expect our guests to share this responsibility with us.
When we know we will be re-opening, we will be contacting everyone with a booking (both provisional and confirmed) by email, attaching our Re-opening Procedures. Guidance has been drawn up separately for guests in our holiday caravans, and those who will be touring and camping, as well of course for our holiday caravan owners, and our tourers with seasonal pitches, all of whom have been longing to get down to their “second home”.
The Procedures include
- Social Distancing
- Hand Hygiene
- COVID-19 Symptoms and Advice
- Arrival and Departure Arrangements
- Our COVID-19 Cleaning Regime
- What to bring for your Safety
- What you will find in your Holiday Caravan
- What facilities will be available for tourers and campers, and which facilities will be closed
- Additions to our normal park rules, and things that may be different this season
- Details of our Text & Collect shopping service for basic essentials
- Out and About – our neighbours and local communities
- How to make your balance payment!
- Contact details for our Family Team
Our Risk Assessment is complete and has been forwarded to the British Holiday and Home Parks Association (BH&HPA).
Our Family Team have all completed a training course on Covid-19 Essentials: Infection Prevention & PPE.
We have also applied for the AA Covid-19 Confident accreditation and are awaiting confirmation of our success. We have shown that:
- our Risk Assessment is in place, and is a working document which will be updated if procedures change,
- customer and staff protection is of the utmost importance through our cleaning procedures documentation,
- we are operating in line with the Government’s guidelines,
- we have followed our trade association’s guidelines as they have been published (and continue to do so),
- our communication with customers is clear, and
- we are open to onsite spot checks and auditing of our standards.
UPDATE 17TH JUNE
Please be aware that we have now closed our provisional bookings for the high season, as we have been blessed with many enquiries.
We will review this as soon as we know what opening will look like for us regarding the capacity restrictions.
We are still taking provisional bookings from September onwards.
We are attending a virtual conference with Cornwall Council today “Tourism Back in Business” and will update this page with any useful news.
Thanks for your support, all at Little Trevothan
UPDATE 12TH JUNE
As you know from previous blogs, we are continuing to lobby the Government about the reopening of holiday parks, and in particular privately owned holiday homes.
On 10th June Oliver Dowden, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, advised the House of Commons that he hopes self-contained accommodation, as a lower risk, will be first in the queue for opening on 4th July.
On 11th June the Tourism Minister, Nigel Huddleston, said in a Tweet, that “FROM 4th July” is the date targeted for opening up tourist accommodation in England . . . . but not necessarily ALL accommodation on 4th July.
Yesterday, we attended a virtual and informative conference covering all the health and safety considerations needed for a safe reopening of our park, hosted by the British Holiday and Home Parks Association.
We are currently reviewing this guidance, and all operational aspects, to ensure we can operate “COVID Safe” for the safety of our guests, the local community and our family team.
We are working towards the target date of 4th July, but we feel that reopening may be a staged process for the different types of accommodation offered in the hospitality industry, and will rely heavily on the R rate remaining below 1.
We continue to keep up to date with developments, and we will write again to Holiday Home Owners, Seasonal Tourers and our guests with Holiday Bookings as soon as we have some positive news.
Our online booking system remains closed, but we are happy to answer enquiries about making a provisional booking. Please email email@example.com or call us on 01326 280260.
Best wishes to you all, from all at Little Trevothan
UPDATE 8TH JUNE
Little Trevothan remains closed by law to everyone.
We are working towards an opening date of 4th July BUT this is totally dependent on the go-ahead from Government, and more information will follow as soon as we hear further.
UPDATE FRIDAY 29TH MAY
I have contacted everyone with a July and August booking today – please look out for an email in your inbox.
UPDATE MONTH 25TH MAY
Further to our update on 20th April below, we have made the difficult decision to stop taking provisional bookings, as the situation is so unclear as to when parks may re-open.
We have contacted guests with a booking up to the end of June, and are now waiting for guidance on the safe re-opening when the time comes. There will undoubtedly be restrictions we must follow regarding social distancing and we aren’t sure whether shared facilities will be able to open at all. As soon as we know more, we will update again.
If you would like to get in touch about your booking, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our booking system is open for 2021.
Best Wishes to you all.
UPDATE TUESDAY 19TH MAY
We would like to share with you a parliamentary discussion which took place this morning and was televised on Parliamentlive.tv.
The Director General of our holiday association (BH&HPA) has spoken about the safe re-opening of holiday parks. The BH&HPA have been working tirelessly since March on behalf of us and many holiday parks like ours. We have been lobbying our local MP and the Tourism minister, and we have even learned to Tweet!
This week we have supported the BH&HPA’s recommendation to government, to bring forward the re-opening of parks from July to next month, initially for our guests who own a holiday caravan at Little Trevothan, and also seasonal tourers who are able to be self-sufficient with their own facilities, then onto a staged re-opening for holiday makers in our caravans,
for tourers and for campers.
We are looking forward to receiving the guidance being drawn up by the association for this safe and staggered re-opening, and will implement this strictly when the time comes.
Ros Pritchard OBE’s interview begins at 11:31, and the other guests include directors of National Trust, Association of Leading Visitor Attractions, National Coastal Community Tourism
and Visit Britain.

Thank you as always for your support, All at Little Trevothan

UPDATE TUESDAY 12TH MAY 2020
This means we are required to postpone our park’s opening date to 4th July.
to include the COVID-19 guidelines for workplaces anticipated from the Government today. The safety of our customers and family team is of the utmost importance to us,
and this document will enable us to plan for a safe re-opening when the time comes.
UPDATE SATURDAY 2ND MAY 2020
Firstly, thank you for your kind messages of support for Little Trevothan at this time. We all really appreciate it.
Our holiday park remains closed, and we await further news from the Prime Minister next week as to how and when restrictions will start to be lifted.
Following the announcement, if we are to remain closed, we will get in touch with those of you who have a booking during that next period to discuss the options available to you.
The economic impact of this crisis on seasonal tourism is proving to be extremely challenging for rural and coastal communities, and we would sincerely like to thank our customers who have chosen to postpone their holiday or accept a credit note for a future stay up to the end of 2021. We are participating in the national campaign to not cancel but to Postpone holidays, and we are doing everything we can to protect tourism jobs and look forward to welcoming you in the future.
UPDATE MONDAY 20TH APRIL 2020
We have closed our booking system for any new bookings this year due to Coronavirus. We are constantly monitoring the situation and will update this as soon as we have clearer guidance on when we may re-open our park.
If you would like to make a provisional booking, please get in touch on 01326 280260, and we can arrange this with no deposit to pay at this time.
Our booking system is open for all 2021 bookings.
UPDATE 8 APRIL 2020 at 09:44
PARK CLOSURE EXTENDED UNTIL THURSDAY 14TH MAY 2020
The Coronavirus continues to affect the lives of us all, and as we continue to follow the direction provided by the Government, it is now clear we need to remain closed for a longer period of time. We have therefore temporarily extended the closure of our park until Thursday 14th May 2020.
.This, we are sure you understand, is totally beyond our control, and we are really sorry for the disappointment caused to anyone who has been looking forward to their holiday.
We know you will want to know how this affects your planned holiday at Little Trevothan, your deposits and balances already paid.
Please rest assured that all monies paid for stays during our period of closure, will be transferred to future bookings.
Understandably, we have many guests wishing to transfer their bookings. As we are a small team, we will be working through our bookings in chronological order, and contacting all our guests to offer them the opportunity to transfer their booking to a later date.
In the first instance we will be contacting guests who have arrival dates during the current proposed lockdown period up to 14th May. Obviously, if the period of lockdown is extended further, then we will contact guests up to the new ‘release’ date and so on.
We are requesting that guests with bookings beyond these dates wait for further developments, as they will still be able to stay, if we have re-opened.
In the interim we have closed our booking system up to 1st July, until we have clearer guidance on when we may re-open. We have also placed a temporary stop on all balance payment reminders for 2020 bookings made through our website and directly with us.
In the meantime, unless absolutely necessary, please stay at home, stay safe and look after each other. If we all work together we can get through this and return to normal life, to enjoy the freedom we had before.
We would like to thank you all for your understanding and support at this time, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Little Trevothan as soon as the situation allows.
Wishing you all good health until we see you again, from all the Little Trevothan family.
