CHARITY AUCTION - THE PARIS HOTEL - DECEMBER 2022

At the beginning of our 2023 season we posted this and displayed the original painting in our holiday park reception for the season to raise further funds for Coverack's charities.

If you have ever been in the Paris Pub on Auction Night over the last couple of decades you will undoubtedly recognise this piece of art. Painted in 1966 by George of Chelsea as a wedding present for his niece, it was later gifted to Martin Lea on the occasion of his 50th birthday in 1995. Martin obviously cherished the piece and it eventually found its way to the annual fund raising event in 2004.
The owner’s family, not wanting the artwork to leave the area, asked that it be returned each year, thereby raising more and more money for worthwhile charities like the RNIB and more recently Sepsis UK and Hollypop.
Little Trevothan is acting as custodian until it is returned in December and the painting will be displayed in our reception, with ribbon delicately placed to protect the innocent! Our guests will have the joy of seeing this piece of Coverack history when they visit, and we will be happy to receive any donations throughout the season to accompany the art when it returns for this year’s auction.

In these days of cashless transactions we are thrilled that our efforts raised £70 which we have rounded up to £100.  We will be returning the artwork at this year's Auction Night on 12th December, where some other lucky bidder will get the chance to have it in their home for the next 12 months.

Thanks to all those who contributed.
